1 year ago: The site is more social network than poetry site. It's filled with cliques and rude people who will curse you out for any number of reasons. The moderators are biased and enforce the rules only when they feel like it. Not worth the hassle.

Our hope is that we are now better able to identify contributions that are worthy of payout and are better able to filter out the scammers and spammers

4 years ago: If you are seriously going to do online blogging for money, you should sign up with one of the freelance writing sites like TextBroker.com or Elance.com. You can even offer blogging services on Fiverr.com. Or you can check for blogging gigs or jobs on job listing sites like Problogger.net. On some sites you will bid for jobs and on other sites you are hired on merit based on samples or feedback. It is possible to make money blogging, but you really have to pursue this as an endeavor and be able to write quickly in order to make money without draining too much time.

5 years ago: I'm not even sure this deserves to be under the 'make money' category because for a site that pays its writers from $1.62 for 300 words, it's pretty dismal. Also, when an article's written and submitted, approval's completely left in the hands of the person who requests the article. That person can reject your work if they want to and there's not much you as the writer can do about it. I joined iwriter out of curiosity. It's a nicely designed site - looks cheerful, friendly. But when I saw the pay rate, I realised just how much I loved myself. I was out of there and never went back.
